Since May of 2021 creating and planting Peace Poles has been an integral part of SPARK’s mission to spread light and peace in the community. Since then, 18 Peace Poles have been planted in neighborhoods, at places of worship and local businesses in Winston-Salem and the surrounding area to serve as a symbol of peace and hope. Created and maintained by different service groups, Peace Poles are decorated with words, images and colors that are unique to the group creating it and the organization it is being made for. In 2024, SPARK received a national grant to create and gift peace poles to fire stations in Winston-Salem and Forsyth County in remembrance of September 11, 2001.

Does this type of creative, peace-bringing work interest you? We’d love to partner with you in creating a Peace Pole within our community. If you’d like to take part in creating a peace pole, or have a space you’d like this symbol of peace and hope to be planted, let us know!
From beginning the project to being placed in its home, a Peace Pole costs $115 to make happen. If you’re led to give towards the creation of a Peace Pole, you can give anonymously or it will be creatively labeled with your name or organization.
Your support and contribution will enable us to spread a peaceful message to all who create, plant and walk by.
SPARK's Cozy Bundle Event has served 350+ children each year for the past three years. We need volunteers to help provide support at our pajama station, blanket and book bundle station, to serve hot cocoa, to help neighbors shop for warm wear with the Community Coat Closet, be a Santa's helper and to greet families as they come through the door. We're excited to have The Community Coat Closet present to give warm wear to all family members and Santa! This is a free event for any family who needs a cozy set of pajamas for ages newborn - 18yo. We will have volunteers at both locations.
