WS Mutual Aid Community (WSMAC) is a collaborative network in Winston-Salem working to build reciprocal relationships, share resources, and meet unmet needs through radical community care and social justice.
WSMAC is a space to connect, learn, share, and support one another - all with the goal of collective liberation.
Why Support Financial Mutual Aid?
While Winston Salem has a lot of non profits and resources, gaps still exist. Some needs cannot be met by existing services due to eligibility hurdles and the process can be discouraging and often humiliating. Even for those who meet eligibility, timing challenges may occur. Mutual aid is us coming together to support one another outside of inhibited structures.

We imagine a world where everyone has their needs met and is able to contribute, financial status never determines someone’s worth or access to care, strong community support networks are the norm, and healthy respectful relationships are standard.
We are working to create a framework for care and support that exists despite authoritarian and capitalist systems. Our work includes in-person and virtual community building, skill-shares, item exchanges, and financial mutual aid - all rooted in an ethos of radical love.

Winston-Salem Mutual Aid Community (WSMAC) was initially formed in August 2025 when team members realized there are many of our neighbors with unmet needs, gaps between available resources, and discouraging eligibility hurdles.
Several of us had previously been part of a group that partnered with a fiscal sponsor to provide financial mutual aid, others went through a national Mutual Aid training, and all came together to focus on community relationships, resource-sharing, and fiscal mutual aid.

Your funds will help provide financial mutual aid to local community members and support the cultivation of local community care. *SPARK does retain a very small administrative fee.
SPARK serves as the fiscal sponsor for WSMAC.
